FAQ
In cases of mild acquired phimosis, treatment with Phimostop can take about 3 weeks. After receiving the kit, treatment begins with a familiarisation phase using the first medical-grade silicone tubes. Over the following weeks, you gradually move up to larger diameters until the foreskin can be fully retracted.
For mild or moderate congenital phimosis, or moderate acquired phimosis, conservative treatment with Phimostop generally takes about 4 weeks. The first 1–2 weeks are used to get used to the foreskin dilation procedure, while the following weeks allow the tube diameters to be increased progressively.
In cases of severe congenital or acquired phimosis, treatment can last from 7 to 10 weeks. It includes a longer initial familiarisation phase so that the tissue can gradually adapt to the dilation stimulus.
Phimostop uses 22 progressively sized medical-grade silicone tubes to encourage the natural dilation of the foreskin without surgery. The treatment is gradual and aims to improve tissue elasticity through gentle, constant pressure.
How long each tube is used varies according to how the individual’s tissue responds and the degree of phimosis. The Phimostop app helps track progress and sends notifications when it is time to move on to the next diameter.
Phimostop was developed as a conservative alternative to circumcision for treating congenital and acquired phimosis. In many cases, progressive dilation of the foreskin can improve retraction without the need for surgery.
Unfortunately not – healing times can vary from person to person. The elasticity of the foreskin, the degree of phimosis and how consistently the device is used all affect how long treatment takes. It is important to follow the protocol patiently and gradually.
Yes. The free Phimostop app supports every stage of the treatment: initial medical history, choosing the right tube, tracking times and automatic reminders for changing tubes. It does not need to be downloaded and is easy to access.
No, Phimostop does not require a prescription. It is a medical device registered with the Italian Ministry of Health, with CE marking and a European patent for the conservative treatment of phimosis.
Phimostop is suitable for:
• Mild acquired phimosis
• Mild congenital phimosis
• Moderate phimosis
• Moderate acquired phimosis
• Congenital phimosis
• Severe acquired phimosis
The dilation protocol is adapted to the severity of the condition and the patient’s progress.
The familiarisation phase gradually gets the foreskin used to the tubes. In this initial phase, the smallest diameters are used to allow the tissue to adapt without causing pain or excessive tension.
Full retraction of the foreskin is generally achieved during the consolidation phase of the treatment. In mild cases it can happen by the third or fourth week, while more severe cases can take up to 10 weeks. Here too, the treatment and timescales vary depending on the degree of severity and how the body responds to the treatment.
Yes. Phimostop is the first European medical device designed to treat phimosis without surgery. It has CE marking and a European patent, and is registered with the Italian Ministry of Health.
Stopping the treatment before the consolidation phase can slow down the results achieved or reduce the benefits of progressive foreskin dilation. It is important to follow the full protocol to help stabilise the elasticity of the tissue.
Yes. With the Phimostop app you can track your treatment, record your progress, receive personalised notifications and follow each stage of phimosis treatment with guidance.
